Maik Schulte-Althoff: February 2026
Maik and his wife, Kristina, found their way to Centrepoint via the Welcome Apéro of Basel-Stadt in 2019, which was still held on a Rhine Cruise Ship at the time. As they enjoyed speaking English and had spent many holidays in the United States, they were immediately drawn to the Centrepoint booth at the event.
Attending Coffee Mornings and Apéros, Maik learned about the vacancy for the Centrepoint Web Coordinator in 2023, as Steve Barnacle was stepping down. Maik likes programming and trying out new things, so he got acquainted with this role.
The first goal he set was to modernise the Centrepoint website and get it ready for use on different devices – from small mobile phones to big screens. Once that was done, he quickly developed a follow-on project in accordance with the Board’s decision to move the Horizon content to the Centrepoint website.
He was an integral part of the project team that built a new website from scratch, which was a huge task. Now that the new website is in place and a larger team is needed to maintain the site’s content, he needs a break and has handed over the static website content management to Arianna Paloschi. However, he will stay engaged as needed for help and advice.
Having more time on his hands in the future, Maik plans to continue travelling to English-speaking countries, which will lead him further north and into the far Southeast rather than the West.
Thank you, Maik, for bringing Centrepoint forward digitally, for always staying open and friendly to the Board’s ideas, and for being there in the future.
