Philippe Bovet: November 2025
Philippe is the much appreciated Volunteer of the Month of November. Born in Switzerland with a Swiss Father and a French mother, he lived until 2005 in Paris. During this period became engaged in energy, climate and environmental issues. The roaring sixties and seventies in Paris and the development of nuclear energy facilities in France shaped his professional life and in 1989 he became a freelance journalist in these issues.
He moved to Basel in 2005, the home town of his father, and continued writing about this topical issue, putting it into the context of broader climateand environmental topics as well. He founded the organisation négaWatt Switzerland, critically following our hunger for energy that we so often waste. He is also a swiss mountain leader.
He joined Centrepoint in 2024 and became the coordinator of the Climate Change Group.
He organised around six meetings of the Climate Change Group together with a number of excursions during this time. Due to his daily work and family obligations he can no longer continue with this task anymore but he became a coordinator of a French Conversation group instead.
Centrepoint is grateful to have this trilingual volunteer as member, speaking English and German as well, and wishes him success in his capacity of coordinator of this group.
