Jo Ala: October 2025
Jo Ala arrived in Basel a few years ago with her husband and their dog, Ted — the only one in the family with a Swiss passport. It was their first time living abroad. Her children remained in the UK to
attend university, which wasn’t always easy for her. Jo enjoys hiking in the mountains during the summer, and she and her family own a small boat, which they love to take out sailing regularly.
She has been actively involved in volunteering over the years — participating in the PTA at school, helping with a friend’s catering business, and volunteering at a nursery.
At Centrepoint, Jo has generously volunteered as part of the apéro team at the monthly apéros and at the ArtWall vernissages. Jo strongly believes that volunteering should be a positive and enjoyable experience. She emphasizes the importance of having a pool of volunteers — so that we can share the work and the fun together. Jo encourages all Centrepoint members to get involved and experience the rewards of volunteering.
On behalf of the Board we sincerely thank you Jo for your contribution. We’re
confident the entire Centrepoint community appreciates it greatly.
